YVSM is excited to announce the addition of attorneys David Plott and Ben Wechsler as Partners in its Annapolis office.  Mr. Plott and Mr. Wechsler bring deep real estate, land use, environmental and litigation experience, and will serve to complement YVSM’s existing transactional real estate and distressed asset practices.

Mr. Plott has successfully represented clients in land use, environmental and real estate matters for over 30 years in administrative, judicial and legislative proceedings.  He has briefed and argued land use cases before various Circuit Courts, the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and the Maryland Court of Appeals.  He has cultivated long-term relationships with business and community groups and government decision-makers to forge consensus and bring various stakeholders into agreement. In turbulent economic times, he has experience in preserving entitlements, and repositioning distressed real estate assets.  In 2020, Super Lawyers recognized Mr. Plott as a leader in land use and zoning. He has also been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America©.  Prior to joining YVSM, Mr. Plott was a partner at Linowes and Blocher LLP and chaired that firm’s Annapolis Practice Group.

Mr. Wechsler has over 20 years of successfully representing clients at the intersection of real estate, land use, environmental law, and litigation.  He has extensive experience before both administrative and judicial tribunals throughout Maryland, and is one of the few practitioners with proven first chair trial experience as well as extensive experience presenting complicated environmental, real estate and land use issues to administrative tribunals and community organizations. He enjoys working in collaboration with teams of real estate and financial experts, often in conjunction with matters in active litigation in the State and Federal courts. He has been qualified as an expert witness on Land Use before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. In 2016, Mr. Wechsler received the Distinguished Service Award for Excellence in Governmental Affairs from NAIOP.  Prior to joining YVSM, Mr. Wechsler was a partner at Linowes and Blocher LLP and is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Chesapeake Bay Trust.
